Established in Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore, the Manipal Comprehensive Spine Care Center (MCSCC) is India's oldest and foremost dedicated quaternary spine care center. Manipal Institute of Robotic Spine Surgery (MIRSS)

The Manipal Institute of Robotic Spine Surgery (MIRSS) was established at MCSCC in 2023, incorporating a cutting-edge robotic spine surgery suite equipped with the MazorX Robot, O-arm, and Allen advanced radiolucent table. This pioneering setup represents the first-of-its-kind comprehensive robotic spine surgery facility in India.
By December 2024, MIRSS had successfully performed 750 robotic spine surgeries for a wide range of spinal pathologies across all age groups. The experienced surgical team at MIRSS specializes in robotic-assisted procedures for virtually all spinal conditions.

In November-December 2024, MIRSS hosted the inaugural Manipal Spine Roboticon 2024, a landmark conference featuring 10 live robotic surgeries, esteemed guest lectures, and insightful panel discussions on various aspects of robotic spine surgery. The event garnered significant international attention, attracting over 350 spine, neuro, and orthopedic surgeons from 22 countries worldwide.

Treatment and Procedures

• Robot Assisted Scoliosis surgery: Abnormal sideward curving of the spine is known as scoliosis. Robot-assisted Spinal deformity correction and instrumented fusion is usually conducted during scoliosis surgery under neuromonitoring.

• Robot Assisted Kyphosis surgery: Abnormal rounding of the spine is known as kyphosis which leads to the formation of the hunch back. Robot-assisted Kyphosis surgery under neuromonitoring is performed in patients who have not benefited from non-invasive treatment. 

• Robot Assisted Spinal Tumor surgeries: Surgery for the spinal tumor is done at Manipal Spine Care Center with a high success rate. The qualified and experienced Spine surgeons perform surgery intending to preserve the maximum neurological functions by completely removing the tumor.
